Fugazi's 1990 debut album Repeater, a post-hardcore landmark from Washington, DC: "Merchandise," "Turnover," "Repeater" and "Blueprint."
Repeater is often regarded as Fugazi's definitive album and a landmark of rock music, and it all came out on the band's own independent Dischord label.
Ian MacKaye, Guy Picciotto, Joe Lally and Brendan Canty recorded Repeater at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia with Don Zientara and Ted Niceley. The songs crackle with coiled tension, built on Lally's dub-inspired bass and the dual guitar and vocal attack of MacKaye and Picciotto.
"Merchandise" is a fist-in-the-air anthem, "Turnover" builds from a slow burn to a roar, "Blueprint" is surprisingly melodic, and the title track is pure, wiry energy. Essential punk, done entirely on their own terms.
