About the album

Sinatra had already flown around the world with Billy May on Come Fly with Me, so a dance party was the obvious next stop. May's band hits hard and swings harder, with brass that punches and saxophones that slide, and Sinatra rides on top of it sounding as relaxed as he ever did.

The title track by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen sets the pace, "Something's Gotta Give" and "Just in Time" bounce, "Too Close for Comfort" grins, and "Cheek to Cheek" and "Dancing in the Dark" get a jaunty makeover. "Baubles, Bangles and Beads" adds a little sparkle, and "The Last Dance" closes the original album as the lights come up. Dave Cavanaugh produced the sessions at Capitol, and the whole thing moves at a dancer's tempo from start to finish. The bonus tracks add "Let's Face the Music and Dance" and "I Won't Dance."

May's arrangements made this one of Sinatra's best-loved Capitol records. It also contains enough invitations to dance that declining all of them would take real effort.
