![Foo Fighters: The Colour and the Shape (2LP) [RCA]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33149280/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-foo-fighters-the-colour-and-the-shape-2l.jpg)
Foo Fighters' 1997 second album The Colour and the Shape on 2LP: "Everlong," "My Hero" and "Monkey Wrench."
The Colour and the Shape is widely considered the defining post-grunge album, and "Everlong" is regularly named one of the greatest rock songs ever.
After making the first Foo Fighters album almost entirely on his own, Dave Grohl recorded The Colour and the Shape with a full band, and the difference is huge. Produced by Gil Norton, it moves from quiet, tender moments to full-throttle rock with incredible energy.
"Monkey Wrench" is a breathless rush, "My Hero" is a stadium anthem, and "Everlong" is simply one of the best rock songs of the last 30 years. "Hey, Johnny Park!" and "February Stars" round out a near-perfect set.
