Fleetwood Mac's 1980 double live album as a remastered 180g 2LP set, caught on the Tusk tour with "Dreams," "Rhiannon" and "Go Your Own Way."
This remastered edition is pressed on two 180g LPs in Germany. Live reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and went gold in both the US and the UK.
By 1980 the Rumours lineup were the biggest draw in rock, and on stage they could stretch those perfect studio songs into something wilder. Live was their first concert album with Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, mostly taped on the 1979 to 1980 Tusk tour from Tokyo to Wichita to London.
The hits are all here and stretched out: "Dreams" and "Don't Stop" from a Paris soundcheck, a towering "Rhiannon" and a hushed "Landslide" from London, and a ferocious "I'm So Afraid" and "Go Your Own Way" from Cleveland. There are surprises too, like a spin through Peter Green's "Oh Well," "Don't Let Me Down Again" from the Buckingham Nicks album, caught in Passaic in 1975. Richard Dashut and Ken Caillat, the team behind Rumours and Tusk, produced with the band, and Buckingham's guitar gets far more room to roam than it ever did in the studio.
"Fireflies," "One More Night" and a backstage take on The Beach Boys' "The Farmer's Daughter" were recorded at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium for an audience of friends and road crew. That's the one crowd guaranteed to cheer, mostly so the van can leave on time.
