Recorded mostly in Portland, Oregon, and produced by Smith with Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf, Either/Or captures Elliott Smith's gift for intricate finger-picked guitar, warm, layered harmonies and melodies with a real Beatles sensibility.

"Between the Bars" and "Angeles" are beautifully delicate, "Ballad of Big Nothing" and "Rose Parade" are wonderfully catchy, and the closing "Say Yes" is one of the sweetest songs he ever wrote. A singer-songwriter essential.
