About the album

Ed Sheeran wrote much of X on the road, during roughly three years of near-constant touring, and you can hear the miles in it. He recorded in studios around the world and came home with a record that swaps the busker's notebook of his debut for something bigger, brighter and more confident.

The producer list is a who's who. Pharrell Williams brought the falsetto funk of "Sing," Rick Rubin worked on the album, Benny Blanco helped shape the hip-hop bounce of "Don't," and Jeff Bhasker, Jake Gosling and Johnny McDaid all left their marks. "Thinking Out Loud" went to No. 1 in a dozen countries, "Photograph" is the tender one, and "Bloodstream" picked up a second life as a remix with Rudimental. The bonus sides add "I See Fire" from The Hobbit, "Take It Back," "Shirtsleeves" and "All Of The Stars."

Spotify named it the most-streamed album in the world in 2014, and in the UK it ran up the longest top-ten stretch any album had managed. Ten years on, "Thinking Out Loud" has soundtracked so many weddings that it probably deserves a plus-one.
