![Duran Duran: Rio (2009 Remaster) [PARLOPHONE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/64431728/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-duran-duran-rio-2009-remaster-parlophone.jpg)
Duran Duran's monumental 1982 second album Rio: "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Save a Prayer" and "Rio." From the 2009 Abbey Road remaster.
Rio spearheaded the Second British Invasion, and "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Save a Prayer" and the title track are new wave at its most glamorous.
Produced by Colin Thurston at AIR Studios in London, Rio is far more adventurous than the band's 1981 debut, with marimba, vibraphone and sound effects like a lit cigarette and cracking ice cubes woven into the mix. The funk influence shines through in John Taylor's syncopated, driving bass lines.
Mostly fast, glittering dance songs with a couple of synth-driven ballads, it's new wave and synth-pop at its very best. "Rio" bursts with Andy Hamilton's sax solo, "Hungry Like the Wolf" is unstoppable, and "Save a Prayer" is pure, dreamy romance.
