![Depeche Mode: Songs of Faith and Devotion [MUTE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/69846243/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-depeche-mode-songs-of-faith-and-devotion.jpg)
Depeche Mode's raw, gospel-tinged 1993 album Songs of Faith and Devotion: "I Feel You," "Walking in My Shoes," "Condemnation" and "In Your Room."
Songs of Faith and Devotion debuted at No. 1 in both the UK and US, a darker, heavier, more organic Depeche Mode record with some of their most powerful songs.
Recorded in Madrid and Hamburg with producer Flood, the album adds distorted guitars, live drums, gospel choirs and strings to Martin Gore's dramatic songs of sin, faith and redemption, sung with fervour by Dave Gahan.
"I Feel You" opens with a screech of grungy blues guitar, "Walking in My Shoes" is brooding and majestic, "Condemnation" is a stirring gospel hymn, and "In Your Room" builds to a huge climax.
Madrid, Hamburg and a gospel choir, all in one dark room. Synth-pop, wearing a leather jacket.
