About the album

Two robots deciding the future of dance music needed real people was a twist nobody expected. After the Tron: Legacy score, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo set their samplers aside and, with the help of arranger Chris Caswell, hired seasoned session players to play live, recording from 2008 to 2012 at Henson, Conway and Capitol in California, Electric Lady in New York and Gang Recording in Paris.

The guest list is a love letter to late-'70s Los Angeles. Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams power "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance," Julian Casablancas sings "Instant Crush" through a vocoder, Giorgio Moroder tells his own life story over a click track on "Giorgio by Moroder," Paul Williams carries the space-opera "Touch," and Panda Bear, Todd Edwards, Chilly Gonzales and DJ Falcon all lend a hand. The bonus sides dig into the workshop: "GLBTM (Studio Outtakes)," an early take of "Get Lucky," the vocoder tests behind "Lose Yourself to Dance" and "Touch (2021 Epilogue)."

Rolling Stone later named it one of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and it remains the duo's farewell studio record. Ten years on, they've finally let us hear the rough drafts, which is more than anyone in our back office has ever managed.
