About the album

Dan Snaith has spent his career moving between headphone pop as Caribou and club tracks as Daphni, and on Honey the two finally meet in the middle of the dance floor. The Dundas, Ontario, native said he wanted huge dance tracks that everyone could get into, and he went about it with a producer's sense of mischief, using AI to reshape his own voice on several songs.

"Honey" and "Broke My Heart" arrived first, both with arrangement help from his old friend Kieran Hebden, and they set the tone: bright, warm, a little euphoric. "Volume" flips MARRS's "Pump Up the Volume" into something new, "Climbing" borrows from René & Angela's "Just Friends," and "Come Find Me" glows like a sunrise set. "Over Now" and "Dear Life" lean toward soulful house, and "Got to Change" sends you out on a high. Snaith produced and recorded it all himself, with David Wrench handling the mix and Matt Colton mastering.

It's a generous, sun-soaked record from one of Canada's most inventive producers. Snaith also holds a PhD in mathematics, which explains why every drop here lands to the exact decimal.
