Black Sabbath's ambitious 1973 album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath: the title track, "A National Acrobat," "Killing Yourself to Live" and "Sabbra Cadabra" with Rick Wakeman.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath pairs some of Tony Iommi's heaviest riffs with synthesizers, strings and progressive flair, a creative high point for the metal pioneers.
Recorded at Morgan Studios in London after writing sessions in a castle, the album expands Sabbath's sound with piano, mellotron, flute and orchestra while keeping the crushing heaviness fans love.
The title track's riff is one of the heaviest ever, "A National Acrobat" grooves, "Sabbra Cadabra" rocks with Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman, "Fluff" is a lovely acoustic interlude, and "Spiral Architect" is grand and orchestral.
Written in a castle, which feels about right.
