About the album

While the rest of the Beach Boys were on tour, Brian Wilson stayed home in Los Angeles with lyricist Tony Asher and the Wrecking Crew and set out to make the greatest pop album ever. Inspired by Phil Spector's Wall of Sound and the Beatles' Rubber Soul, he layered bicycle bells, theremins, French horns, barking dogs and some of the most gorgeous vocal harmonies ever recorded.

"Wouldn't It Be Nice" is pure joy, "God Only Knows" is heavenly, "Sloop John B" and "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" are timeless, and "Caroline, No" closes things out with Brian's most tender vocal. The mono mix is punchy, warm and exactly how Brian heard it in his head.
