The Weather Station's 2025 album Humanhood in a Canada exclusive edition, with "Neon Signs," "Window" and "Body Moves."
This Canada exclusive edition comes with a printed inner sleeve and was made in Canada. Humanhood earned a Metacritic score of 84, with Rolling Stone saying every epiphany "feels uniquely earned."
Tamara Lindeman wrote Humanhood about coming apart and finding her way back, then did something rather brave with it: she got six musicians into Canterbury Music Company in Toronto in late 2023 and recorded the whole thing live off the floor in two sessions. You can hear the room breathing. Lindeman started The Weather Station as a folk project, and she has never sounded more adventurous.
She co-produced with Marcus Paquin, and the band (Ben Boye, Ben Whiteley, Karen Ng, Kieran Adams and Philippe Melanson) help shape the improvised passages that stitch the songs together. "Neon Signs" pulses, "Window" and "Body Moves" drift between folk, jazz and ambient pop, and "Irreversible Damage" and "Aurora" carry the record's deepest feeling. Exclaim! called it "Lindeman's most fluid and confronting music yet."
It's a Toronto record through and through, and we're happy to keep this edition close to home. Recording an album live in two sessions is either nerves of steel or excellent planning, and on this evidence it's both.
