About the album

Toronto-based indie pop band Valley's Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden marks a pivotal moment in the band's evolution, as it's their first project as a trio. Rob Laska, Alex Dimauro and Karah James build on their signature indie pop sound, with Chase Lawrence of COIN, an old touring partner, in the producer's chair.

The band continue to refine their blend of introspective, narrative-driven lyrics and catchy melodies, from the title track and "A Little More" to "Growing (Apart)", "Mosquito" and the closing "Cocoon." The result is a rich, emotive record that shows their artistic maturity while keeping the accessibility that has earned them critical acclaim and a loyal following.

Valley had already picked up Juno nominations for Breakthrough Group and Group of the Year. The band formed in 2014 when two groups were accidentally double-booked into the same Toronto studio, which remains the most productive scheduling error we've heard of.
