About the album

Usher was still a teenager with a lot riding on his second album, and the label tried a few directions before fellow Atlanta native Jermaine Dupri took the wheel. The two hit it off so well that Usher moved in with Dupri for a while, and this time he had a real hand in writing songs about his own life.

Dupri and Manuel Seal shaped six of the songs, with Babyface, Sprague "Doogie" Williams and Tim & Bob filling out the team. "You Make Me Wanna..." earned him a Grammy nomination, "Nice & Slow" became a slow-jam classic, and the title track kept the hits coming. Monica joins him on "Slow Jam," Lil' Kim drops by on "Just Like Me," and "Come Back" and "Bedtime" round out a smooth, confident record.

He hit the road opening for Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson, and he never really looked back. Twenty-five years later the dance moves remain the same, though we've stopped trying to copy them in the back room.
