About the album

Toronto's own Abel Tesfaye had been the king of late-night R&B for a decade by 2020, but After Hours turned him into something else entirely: a full-blown, '80s-synth-drenched pop icon in a red suit and a bloodied nose.

Made with Max Martin, Metro Boomin, Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) and longtime collaborators DaHeala and Illangelo, it's a dark, cinematic record about regret and bad nights in Las Vegas, but the hooks are enormous. "Blinding Lights" spent a record-breaking year in the Billboard top 10, "Save Your Tears" and "In Your Eyes" followed it up the charts, and the title track is a six-minute, synth-pulsing epic. It's his best album, and that's saying something.
