2021 remaster of the Tragically Hip's 1991 No. 1 album Road Apples on red vinyl: "Little Bones," "Twist My Arm," "Three Pistols" and "Cordelia."
On order
Road Apples was the Hip's first No. 1 album in Canada and went diamond. This 2021 remaster on red vinyl brings out every bit of the New Orleans swamp in "Little Bones," "Three Pistols" and "Fiddler's Green."
Fresh off the success of Up to Here, the Tragically Hip headed to Daniel Lanois' studio in New Orleans in the fall of 1990 and soaked up some of that humid, haunted atmosphere. It was also the first album with every lyric written by Gord Downie, and you can hear him stretching out as a writer, dropping in Tom Thomson and Jacques Cousteau along the way.
"Little Bones" and "Twist My Arm" are prime bar-band rock, "Three Pistols" is a perfect slice of Canadiana, and "Fiddler's Green" (written for Downie's young nephew) is one of the most beautiful songs the band ever recorded. Road Apples went straight to No. 1 and became a diamond record. Any Canadian collection needs one.
