The Beaches: Sisters Not Twins - The Professional Lovers Album [UNIVERSAL]

Why you'll love it

About the album

Sisters Jordan and Kylie Miller started their first band in their early teens, as Done with Dolls, and even sang the theme for a Family Channel sitcom. By 2013 they'd added Leandra Earl from Little Italy, kept Eliza Enman-McDaniel on drums, turned up the guitars and renamed themselves after the east-end neighbourhood where most of them grew up.

The Professional brought "Fascination" and "Snake Tongue," and that year they opened the Rolling Stones' Canadian stop on the No Filter Tour. Future Lovers followed with "Let's Go" and "Blow Up," songs first meant for their second album that they couldn't wait to share. Put together, it's tight, swaggering rock with a big pop heart, with "Bad Behaviour" and "Want What You Got" built for shouting along at the back of a club.

Blame My Ex and the arenas came next, which makes this the we-liked-them-first record. Their 2020 tour finished with three sold-out nights at the Danforth Music Hall, a short stroll from our Danforth shop, and we like to think we helped with the foot traffic.
