About the album

In 2002 a Russian pop duo singing in English was nobody's idea of a sure thing in the UK charts. Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina, who first sang together in the children's group Neposedy, teamed with producer Trevor Horn to rework their Russian hit Ya Soshla s Uma (I've Lost My Mind) into a breathless, synth-driven anthem for the world.

Horn gave it the full widescreen treatment, with pounding drums, churning guitars and a chorus that sounds like it's being shouted from a rooftop. Co-writer Martin Kierszenbaum, who went on to found Cherrytree Records, supplies the Heated Radio remixes here, stretching the song out for the dance floor, while the Extension 119 Club Edit pushes it harder still. The song's five writers include Horn himself, Kierszenbaum and Elena Kiper, whose dream sparked the original Russian version.

In 2016 the video became the first Russian music video on YouTube to earn a Vevo Certified award, for 100 million views. On a 12" at 45 RPM it's every bit as loud as you remember, so do have a quiet word with the downstairs neighbours first.
