About the album

Stevie Wonder spent two years making Songs in the Key of Life, the follow-up to a run of albums (Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale) that would have been anybody else's whole career. It was worth the wait: a sprawling, generous double album with a bonus 7" tucked inside, covering love, faith, racism, poverty, childhood and joy, and somehow every corner of it has a song you know.

"Sir Duke" is his tribute to Duke Ellington and the musicians who inspired him, "I Wish" is the funkiest thing about growing up ever recorded, "Isn't She Lovely" celebrates the birth of his daughter Aisha, and "Pastime Paradise," "Knocks Me Off My Feet" and "As" are all-time classics. It went straight to No. 1 in the US and won Album of the Year. If you only own one Stevie record, make it this one.
