About the album

Steve Lacy first made his name as the teenage guitar whiz in the Internet, cooking up beats on his iPhone and producing for Kendrick Lamar and Vampire Weekend along the way. Gemini Rights, his major-label debut, is where all of that comes together: a funky, sun-warped breakup record that slides between indie rock, alternative R&B, jazz and psychedelia like it's the most natural thing in the world.

"Bad Habit" was the runaway hit, going viral and then all the way to the top of the Hot 100, but the whole album is a joy: the bossa-tinged "Mercury," the swooning "Sunshine" with Fousheé, the guitar squalls of "Helmet." Lacy produced most of it himself, and it sounds like nobody else.
