About the album

Rihanna put out seven albums in eight years, a work rate most of us couldn't manage with a to-do list. Unapologetic was recorded between June and November 2012, while she was still out promoting Talk That Talk, and she took the executive producer's chair herself.

She brought back trusted collaborators The-Dream, David Guetta, Chase & Status and Stargate, and added new names in Mike Will Made It, Labrinth and Parker Ighile. The result mixes pop, synth-pop and R&B with flashes of dubstep, EDM, rock and reggae. "Diamonds" went to No. 1 on both the Hot 100 and the UK chart, her twelfth Hot 100 chart-topper, tying her with Madonna and The Supremes. "Stay," a hushed piano duet with Mikky Ekko, is one of her most affecting vocals, "Pour It Up" struts on a Mike Will Made It beat, and Future guests on "Loveeeeeee Song."

The IFPI counted it among the ten best-selling albums in the world in 2012, and by the end of 2014 it had passed four million copies. Fourteen songs on four sides in fruit punch colour, which is the closest this shop will ever come to a smoothie bar.
