Brooklyn duo Mike Stroud and Evan Mast made a whole career out of instrumental music that rocks like a band and hits like a hip hop beat. On their second album, partly recorded in an upstate New York house, they layer twin harmonized guitar leads, synths and heavy, swaggering drums into tunes that feel like a movie soundtrack.
"Wildcat" (with its famous big-cat roar) and "Loud Pipes" are anthems, "Lex" and "Montanita" are breezy and beautiful, and "Tacobel Canon" is a sly nod to Pachelbel. Perfect for road trips.
