Propagandhi's 1993 debut How to Clean Everything, remastered with three bonus tracks cut from the original album.
This remastered edition adds three outtakes that Fat Mike cut from the original album, including "Pigs Will Pay" and "Leg-Hold Trap." In 1995 The Fresno Bee called it the best album Fat Wreck Chords had put out.
Manitoba has given the world plenty of fine exports, and one of the loudest is Propagandhi. Chris Hannah, Jord Samolesky and a young John K. Samson, later of The Weakerthans, cut this debut for Fat Mike's Fat Wreck Chords in 1993, and it landed in the middle of the skate-punk boom like a pamphlet wrapped around a brick. Samolesky's drumming is relentless, Hannah's guitar is all sharp edges, and Samson's bass and backing vocals give the songs a melodic lift. The 2013 remaster cleans up the sound without sanding off any of the rough edges.
The songs are short, fast and funny, mixing melodic hardcore with ska and reggae detours and an outspoken point of view that never lets up. "Anti-Manifesto" sets the tone, "Showdown (G.E./P.)" and "Middle Finger Response" fly by, and "Ska Sucks" shows off the band's sense of humour. AllMusic called it "Anarchy 101 to a mass audience," and fun at the same time.
Hannah has said the band still plays these songs live and they sit right alongside the newer ones. Thirty-odd years on, the record has outlasted most of the shoes people wore to see them.
