About the album

Post Malone wrote "White Iverson" with FKi 1st in a borrowed house in Los Angeles and stayed up until 7 a.m. to record it while everyone else wanted to sleep. The song blew up in early 2015, Republic signed him, he toured with Fetty Wap, and within a year he was opening for Justin Bieber's Purpose World Tour and working on a debut album named after his old nickname.

Stoney mixes trap snares and heavy bass with his guitar, a country lilt and pop hooks, and the producer list is long: Louis Bell, Frank Dukes, Metro Boomin, Mustard, Pharrell Williams, Illangelo and Malone himself. "Congratulations" with Quavo became an anthem, "Deja Vu" brings in Bieber, "Feel" features Kehlani, and "I Fall Apart" grew from deep cut to diamond-certified heartbreak.

Three of its songs, "White Iverson," "Congratulations" and "I Fall Apart," are now certified diamond in the U.S., and the record earned a Billboard Music Award nomination for Top Billboard 200 Album. Not bad for a record its maker spent much of 2016 insisting was hip hop, while holding a guitar.
