Periphery's 2026 eighth album A Pale White Dot as a limited 2LP set on half black, half cream with black splatter vinyl, cut at 45 RPM.
This limited 2LP set is cut at 45 RPM for extra punch and comes in a gatefold jacket with a double-sided insert. It's the band's first album recorded on 30-inch baritone guitars, with Will Ramos of Lorna Shore guesting on "Subhuman."
After years of numbered, self-titled records (and one very cheeky subtitle), Periphery finally gave an album a proper name. A Pale White Dot is their eighth, the first since the Juggernaut pair in 2015 to break from the self-titled run, and the first to leave off the band's familiar three-dot logo. It came out in May 2026 on their own 3DOT Recordings, and a teaser photo of Spencer Sotelo in a jacket with a white circle on it gave the game away early.
The big change is in the low end. Misha Mansoor, Jake Bowen and Mark Holcomb tuned 30-inch baritone six-strings down to F standard with the lowest string dropped to B-flat, and the riffs on "Obsession," "Mr. God" and "Blackwall" land with real weight. Sotelo's melodies still soar over the top, Matt Halpern's drumming is as precise as ever, and Adam "Nolly" Getgood handles bass and engineering and co-mixes with Mansoor and Sotelo. The title track closes the record in suitably cosmic fashion.
The band took it straight to Europe in June 2026, Download Festival included. Tuning a guitar a major seventh below standard is either bold sonic research or a very elaborate way of making the neighbours' floor shake; we suspect both.
