About the album

Ol' Dirty Bastard was never going to make a conventional second album, and he didn't. He floated several other titles before settling on this one, and he brought in a wide spread of producers to keep up with him, from The Neptunes and Irv Gotti to RZA, Buddha Monk and True Master, so the record lurches happily from glossy club bangers to raw Staten Island grit.

The Neptunes' "Got Your Money," with Kelis on the hook and a Hype Williams video, became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Chris Rock and Pharrell Williams turn up on "Recognize," "Cold Blooded" draws on Rick James, and Lil' Mo joins him for a gloriously unhinged "Good Morning Heartache." RZA keeps the Wu-Tang flavour alive on the title track, "Dirt Dog" and "Cracker Jack," and "All in Together Now" comes courtesy of True Master.

It sold 93,000 copies in its first week, NME gave it nine out of ten, and it became the last album issued in his lifetime. It plays like a man who never once checked whether the band was keeping up.
