![Nas: Illmatic XX [COLUMBIA / LEGACY]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33620975/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-nas-illmatic-xx-columbia-legacy.jpg)
Illmatic XX, the 20th-anniversary edition of Nas' 1994 hip hop masterpiece: "N.Y. State of Mind," "The World Is Yours," "Memory Lane" and "It Ain't Hard to Tell."
Illmatic is routinely named the greatest hip hop album of all time, a flawless debut with beats from DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor and Q-Tip.
Nas was just 20 when Illmatic arrived, and his vivid, poetic rhymes about life in Queensbridge set a new bar for lyricism. The production lineup is a dream team: DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip and L.E.S., with jazz samples and boom-bap beats throughout.
"N.Y. State of Mind" is a masterclass in storytelling, "The World Is Yours" and "Memory Lane (Sittin' in da Park)" are timeless, and "It Ain't Hard to Tell" closes things with a Michael Jackson sample. Ten tracks, no filler.
