![Massive Attack: Protection [CIRCA / WILD BUNCH]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33631032/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-massive-attack-protection-circa-wild-bun.jpg)
Massive Attack's 1994 trip-hop classic Protection: "Protection" with Tracey Thorn, "Karmacoma," "Sly" and "Better Things."
Protection is the essential follow-up to Blue Lines, a deep, smoky, beautifully moody record that helped define the Bristol sound.
Working with producer Nellee Hooper, 3D, Daddy G and Mushroom built Protection from slow, rolling beats, dubby bass and cinematic strings, with Everything but the Girl's Tracey Thorn, Nicolette and Horace Andy adding unforgettable vocals.
The title track is a seven-minute masterpiece of late-night warmth, "Karmacoma" is woozy and hypnotic, "Sly" glides on Nicolette's voice, and "Better Things" is quietly gorgeous. The closer is a live take on the Doors' "Light My Fire."
