About the album

Built around songs written and produced by Leon Ware, I Want You finds Marvin Gaye layering his voice in rich, intimate harmonies over smooth, mid-tempo grooves with strings, congas and warm electric piano. The cover art is Ernie Barnes's famous painting The Sugar Shack.

The title track is a slinky, irresistible classic, "After the Dance" floats beautifully as both a vocal and an instrumental, "Come Live with Me Angel" is lush, and "I Wanna Be Where You Are" glides along with joy.
