About the album

Bands announce farewells all the time; Japandroids are one of the few who got talked out of it by their own record. Brian King and David Prowse cut Post-Nothing in the summer of 2008, decided by autumn that the band was going nowhere, and planned to put the album out quietly and call it a day. Then Vancouver's Unfamiliar Records signed them, Pitchfork named "Young Hearts Spark Fire" a Best New Track, and the plans changed rather quickly.

It's two people making the noise of five: King's guitar on full blast, Prowse's drums pounding, both of them shouting the hooks together. "The Boys Are Leaving Town" sets the tone, "Young Hearts Spark Fire" is a pure, sweaty anthem about being young and restless, "Wet Hair" is two and a half minutes of joyful racket, and "Rockers East Vancouver" is a love letter to their home turf. They recorded and mixed it themselves at The Hive Creative Labs.

Polyvinyl took the album worldwide later in 2009, and the band spent the next year on a tour of over 200 shows in more than 20 countries. It still sounds like the best night out you had in your twenties, with considerably less tidying up afterwards.
