About the album

Jay Kay has never been one to do things by halves, so it's no surprise Dynamite took the best part of two years and a small atlas of studios to make, including Jam Studios in London and his own Chillington Studios. The result is Jamiroquai at their slinkiest, a sleek mix of disco, funk, acid jazz and electro built for both the dance floor and the open road.

Mike Spencer produced throughout, with Kay co-producing several tracks, and keyboardist Matt Johnson makes his first appearance on a Jamiroquai album. "Feels Just Like It Should" struts in on a fuzzed-up groove, "Seven Days In Sunny June" is pure summer, "(Don't) Give Hate A Chance" keeps the floor busy, and "Dynamite" and "Hot Tequila Brown" glide along on gorgeous basslines.

It's the sound of a band fully in command of its own style, twenty years on still bright enough to light up a room. Kay has always been fond of a fast car, and this is the record that makes the most sense with the windows down.
