Why you'll love it

Jai Paul's demos became one of the most mythologised records of the 2010s, influencing a generation of pop and R&B producers. Bait Ones lets you hear them the way he intended.

About the album

Jai Paul's handful of singles, "BTSTU" and "Jasmine," made him one of the most talked-about producers in Britain, with a sound full of crunchy, warped funk, shimmering synths and falsetto hooks. His unfinished demos from 2007 to 2013 developed a huge cult following.

In 2019 he made them official through XL as Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones). "BTSTU" is all bruised, bass-heavy swagger, "Str8 Outta Mumbai" is a dazzling Bollywood-funk mashup, and "Jasmine" is woozy and gorgeous.
