About the album

Guns N' Roses never did anything halfway, so when it came time to follow Appetite for Destruction they put out two double albums on the same day. Of the pair, Use Your Illusion II was the slightly bigger seller, moving a record 770,000 copies in its first week and debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

"You Could Be Mine" came roaring in from Terminator 2, "Civil War" is a sprawling, angry epic with Steven Adler's last drumming for the band, and "Estranged" is Axl Rose at his most operatic. "Don't Cry" returns in a new lyric version, while "Pretty Tied Up" and "Locomotive" show off Slash's monster riffs.

It's certified seven times platinum, and it was the last GN'R studio album to credit Izzy Stradlin. Restraint was never on the menu, and nobody has complained since.
