About the album

Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore don't do anything by halves, costumes included. After Two Vines they went quiet, but they never really stopped writing; Littlemore reckons they wrote as many as 1,200 songs over those years before settling on the twelve here, and the finished album came together in sessions in 2024 that drew on recordings they'd kept for seven years.

"Changes" and "Cherry Blossom" are glittering, star-gazing disco, the kind of songs Empire of the Sun built their name on, while "Music on the Radio" was likened by Steele to a teenager rebelling against his imaginary emotions. "AEIOU," their 2023 collaboration with Littlemore's other project Pnau, gets a home here, and the title track and "Revolve" keep the dancefloor glowing. Steele, Littlemore and Peter Mayes earned ARIA nominations for both engineering and production, and a deluxe edition with two extra songs followed in early 2025.

AllMusic heard a joyful return to the body-moving spirit of their first two albums, and Record Collector called the songwriting their sharpest yet. On clear vinyl it looks as cosmic as it sounds, which saves you buying the headdress.
