Toronto indie pop band Cootie Catcher's third album Something We All Got on clear vinyl, their first for Carpark and a 2026 Polaris Music Prize longlister.
This one comes on clear vinyl, the Toronto band's first album for Carpark Records. Something We All Got made the 2026 Polaris Music Prize longlist.
Cootie Catcher started as a creative outlet for singer and bassist Anita Foul and singer and guitarist Nolan Jakupovski, and it grew into one of Toronto's most charming indie pop bands. After their 2022 debut Stupid Is As Stupid Does and 2025's Shy at First, they signed to Carpark and made their third album in short order.
Pitchfork files them with the laptop twee crowd, acts that fuse hyperpop's maximalism with the whimsical optimism of 2000s buzz bands, and that's a fair picture: jangly guitars, chirpy electronics and boy-girl vocals in tight little songs. "Loiter for the Love of It" opens with a shrug and a grin, "From Here to Halifax" takes the scenic route east, "Puzzle Pop" lives up to its name and "Pirouette" spins the album to a close. The band wrote and produced it all themselves, and the bedroom-studio sparkle is part of the charm.
Fourteen songs, plenty of hooks and a hometown we happen to share, which makes it an easy one for us to recommend across the counter. We've added laptop twee to the shop's genre dividers and are still debating which bin it goes in.
