About the album

Fair to say the girl from Charlemagne, Quebec, didn't need much help by 1996. She had The Colour of My Love behind her and the French-language D'eux flying off shelves, and Falling Into You was where she went global in a very big way, working with 14 producers and a whole world of songwriters.

Jim Steinman wrote and produced "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," a seven-minute power ballad with all the operatic thunder he brought to Meat Loaf. David Foster oversaw "Because You Loved Me," Diane Warren's theme for Up Close & Personal, which hit No. 1 in the US. Her take on Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" is a vocal high-wire act, and "River Deep, Mountain High" and the title track show off her range from soul belter to soft-rock crooner.

It sold more than 12 million copies in the US alone and a million each in Canada, France, Germany and Australia, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame counts it on its Definitive 200 list. Several of us have attempted the big note in "All By Myself" while closing up the shop. Celine, we're pleased to report, has nothing to worry about.
