About the album

Beyoncé dropped Lemonade without warning in April 2016, along with an hour-long film, and it instantly became the most talked-about album of the year. Structured like a journey through betrayal, anger, grief and forgiveness, it's both deeply personal and a powerful statement about Black womanhood in America.

It's also her most musically daring record. "Hold Up" is breezy reggae-pop, "Don't Hurt Yourself" is raging rock with Jack White, "Daddy Lessons" goes full Texas country, "Freedom" with Kendrick Lamar is a gospel-sized anthem, and "Formation" is a stone-cold classic. It topped charts around the world and took home a Grammy.
