About the album

After the frat-rap explosion of Licensed to Ill, the Beastie Boys moved to Los Angeles, hooked up with the Dust Brothers and spent two years building something completely different. Paul's Boutique layers funk, soul, rock and jazz samples into a dense, psychedelic, endlessly quotable tapestry, with Ad-Rock, Mike D and MCA trading rhymes like a three-headed comedy act.

"Shake Your Rump" and "Hey Ladies" are irresistible, "Egg Man" and "Car Thief" are pure fun, and the closing twelve-minute "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" medley is a whole universe of its own. Every listen turns up something new hiding in the mix.
