About the album

After the blockbuster success of Songs in A Minor, Alicia Keys came back with an even richer, warmer record she called her musical diary. She wrote and produced most of it herself, blending classical piano, vintage soul, hip hop beats and gospel fire.

"If I Ain't Got You" is a modern standard, "You Don't Know My Name" (co-written with Kanye West) is a sweet slice of old-school soul, "Karma" and "Heartburn" bring the funk, and "Diary" with Tony! Toni! Toné! is gorgeous. Spread over two LPs.
