Tori Amos's 1992 debut Little Earthquakes, remastered on 180g vinyl, with "Silent All These Years," "China," "Winter" and "Crucify."
This remastered edition is pressed on 180g vinyl. Little Earthquakes reached No. 14 in the UK, and Rolling Stone ranked it No. 233 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
Tori Amos arrived on the UK charts before her home country got a look in. Little Earthquakes came out in Britain in January 1992, a full seven weeks ahead of its American debut, and the singer-songwriter and pianist from North Carolina found her first audience across the Atlantic.
Getting there took two rounds. Atlantic asked for more, so Amos and her then-boyfriend Eric Rosse recorded new songs in his home studio on a 24-track tape machine and a Yamaha piano, adding "Girl," "Precious Things," "Tear in Your Hand," "Mother" and the title track. Davitt Sigerson produced the earlier sessions. "Silent All These Years" is the quiet heart of the record, "Crucify" opens it with defiance, "China" and "Winter" are aching and beautiful, and the a cappella "Me and a Gun" is as brave a song as anyone has put on a debut.
Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums placed it at No. 73, which, for a record built mostly around one woman and a piano, is a remarkably good return on furniture.
