About the album

Masayoshi Takanaka built on the tropical sound of his debut Seychelles with Takanaka, his second album, issued on Kitty Records in March 1977. It blends Latin rhythm, jazz fusion, funk and pop into the sunny style that defined his career.

"Ready To Fly" began during his time in the Sadistics; he re-recorded it here as a solo piece, and its uplifting melody and guitar work made it a highlight of his live shows ever since. "Summer Breeze" and "Mambo No. 5 (Disco Dango)" show the same playful touch.

A new generation has found him, with many fans in their twenties at his sold-out shows; this is one of the essential records of Japanese fusion.
