About the album

Sequels are tricky in rap, especially when the first one got a Grammy nomination. Five years after Alfredo, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist went back to the kitchen, this time with a short film shot in Japan, a video game and a North American and European tour to go with it. It came out on Gibbs's own ESGN label alongside The Alchemist's ALC Records.

The album runs in three acts, opening on the lead single "1995" and moving through "Mar-A-Lago," "Lemon Pepper Steppers" and "Gas Station Sushi" on its way to "A Thousand Mountains." Anderson .Paak, Larry June and JID drop in as guests, but the main event is the chemistry the two have built since Fetti with Curren$y in 2018: The Alchemist's dusty, cinematic loops and Gibbs's sharp, unhurried storytelling over the top.

Critics praised the production and the pair's rapport, and it also charted at No. 6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The vinyl colour is called vodka sauce, which is as close as a record has come to appearing on the menu.
