Why you'll love it

Arctic Monkeys put this five-song EP out in 2006, right after their record-breaking debut, and it's the last record with original bassist Andy Nicholson. "The View from the Afternoon" and "No Buses" are fan favourites.

About the album

In early 2006 Arctic Monkeys had the fastest-selling debut album in British history and back-to-back No. 1 singles, and instead of a third single they put out a cheekily titled five-song EP (which meant it couldn't chart, which was very much the point).

"The View from the Afternoon" is a breathless burst of Alex Turner's wordplay and Matt Helders' drumming (it also opens their debut album), "Cigarette Smoker Fiona" and "No Buses" are classic early Monkeys, and "Despair in the Departure Lounge" is a quiet, homesick gem. A great little slice of a band at the very start of something huge.
