About the album

Most people make a home movie. Anderson .Paak made a feature, cast his son in it and then wrote the soundtrack. K-Pops!, his directing debut, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024 and follows BJ, a drummer who heads to Seoul to play in the house band of a televised K-pop contest and meets the son he never knew he had. Jee Young Han, Dumbfoundead and Yvette Nicole Brown co-star.

The music bridges Los Angeles and Seoul. Dem Jointz executive produced and handled "Aftertaste" with Seoul R&B artist DEAN and "Keychain" with aespa, NMIXX turn up on "Caution," and Soul Rasheed, .Paak's son and co-star, makes his musical debut on "Love Is Everywhere." The guest list runs on through JID, Jay Park, CHUNG HA, JO1, SOYEON of (i-dle), HONGJOONG of ATEEZ and JOSHUA of SEVENTEEN, with .Paak's drums and grin all over it.

It plays like a mixtape from someone who loves classic soul and K-pop in equal measure and sees no reason to choose. Father and son on the same record, too; in most families, getting everyone into one photo is the hard part.
