Originally released in 1983, "War" is the third studio album by Irish rock band U2. It features some of the biggest songs of their career and in a first for the band features heavily political themes.
U2's third album "War" marks a distinct change in the band's musical direction and regarded as their first political album. Tracks such as the protest song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day" are among the bands biggest hits and are still played in concert to this day. "Seconds" is U2's first song to feature guitarist The Edge on lead vocals.
The anthemic closing track "40" was for many years a staple of the bands live set and was often the closing track of concerts for several tours. The album reached the top 10 in several countries and went to number one in the UK, and has platinum sales status in many locations.
