The Smiths Announce Remastered and Expanded Edition of The Queen Is Dead, Out October 20

Often regarded as both the band’s standout achievement and one of the greatest albums of all time, The Queen Is Dead has had a lasting impact on generations of listeners since its original release in the summer of 1986. Now, Warner Bros. Records has revealed plans for a newly remastered and expanded edition of the album, set to arrive on October 20.

This marks the first time The Smiths’ catalogue has been revisited in this way. The release follows two recent limited-edition vinyl singles drawn from the archives: a demo version of The Boy With The Thorn In His Side, issued for Record Store Day, and The Queen Is Dead, which reached No. 1 on the official vinyl chart upon its re-release in June.

The album includes some of the band’s most celebrated tracks, such as the title song and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, along with classic singles like The Boy With The Thorn In His Side and Bigmouth Strikes Again.

The reissue will be available across digital and streaming platforms, as well as multiple physical formats—all featuring the 2017 remaster of the original album.
