40th anniversary 2LP of Talking Heads' legendary live album Stop Making Sense, the full concert soundtrack to Jonathan Demme's film: "Psycho Killer," "Burning Down the House" and "Once in a Lifetime."
This 40th anniversary edition is the first time the complete Stop Making Sense concert has come out, 16 songs over two LPs. The film, directed by Jonathan Demme, is widely called the greatest concert film ever made.
Over three nights at Hollywood's Pantages Theatre in December 1983, Jonathan Demme filmed Talking Heads at the peak of their powers, and the result became the most beloved concert film of all time. It opens with David Byrne alone on stage with an acoustic guitar and a boombox playing "Psycho Killer," and with each song another musician joins, until the full nine-piece funk machine is in full swing.
For years the soundtrack album only had part of the show. This 40th anniversary edition finally gives you the whole thing: "Heaven," "Burning Down the House," "Life During Wartime," "This Must Be the Place," "Once in a Lifetime," the Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love" and a blazing "Take Me to the River," big suit and all (well, you'll have to imagine the suit).
