Almost immediately after the release of The Tortured Poets Department in April of 2024, Taylor Swift unveiled an entire second volume of tunes to pair with the original dubbed The Anthology.

Those songs dwelled solely on the Internet until November of that year, when Swift -- never shy about giving her fans a wee something new to buy -- made The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology available as a whopping four-disc, 140-minute vinyl package. That's a lot of Sad Taylor. The Anthology doesn't lighten the mood of the sombre, stately original at all, letting the doleful synth-pop and stripped-down folk she cooked up with go-to producers Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner during the Tortured Poets sessions ride for an extra 75 (!) minutes and actually appending acoustic versions of "Fortnight," "Down Bad," "But Daddy I Love Him" and "Guilty As Sin?" to make you even sadder. If nothing else, this epic collection proves once and for all that all Taylor Swift does is work, work, work. Remember, she wrote and recorded this thing after dropping Midnights in late 2022 and heading out on the cultural phenomenon known as the Eras Tour mere months later. Swift doesn't stop.
