Antibloom from Ontario post-hardcore veterans Silverstein, the first half of their 2025 double album, on opaque magenta vinyl.
This pressing comes on opaque magenta vinyl cut at 45 RPM, in a die-cut sleeve with an o-card. "Skin & Bones" and "Confession" led the way as singles.
Most bands celebrating 25 years settle for a greatest hits set and a cake. Silverstein turned up to the studio with 25 demos, picked their 16 favourites, and drummer Paul Koehler suggested splitting them in two; Antibloom is the first half, with Pink Moon following later in 2025.
Sam Guaiana (Neck Deep, Holding Absence, Bayside) produced and mixed it at Fireside Sound in Joshua Tree, California. Eight tight songs: "Mercy Mercy" and "Don't Let Me Get Too Low" open at full tilt, "Confession" is all hooks, and "I Will Destroy This" and "Cherry Coke" bring the big choruses this band has been perfecting since the turn of the century.
Shane Told says "Confession" is all about message, melody and emotion, which has been the Silverstein formula since Discovering the Waterfront went gold in Canada. A quarter of a century in, they're still louder than our listening station is strictly rated for.
